Doctor in the House

Among his many other credits listed (or hinted at) here, it's something of an exaggeration to say that Graeme Garden "wrote Doctor in the House". He was one of the two principal writers, along with Bill Oddie, on the ITV series (1969–70) – but this was based on a series of books by Richard Gordon. Doctor in the House (1952) was the title of the first book in the series, which eventually ran to twenty or more volumes. There was also a film, based on the first novel, which was released in 1954 and followed by six sequels, and a radio series in 1968 and 1969.

Other writers on the television series were Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Barry Cryer and Bernard McKenna. The screenplay to the film was written by Richard Gordon.
